Finding Strength in the Waiting

What happens when God’s timing doesn’t match yours?”

Waiting can feel like one of the hardest things to do, especially when you’ve been working tirelessly toward a goal.

For Anna, the waiting period after her decision to pursue higher education was filled with doubt, anxiety, and frustration.

The world around her seemed to be moving really fast, yet her life felt like it was stuck in limbo.

Waiting wasn’t part of her plan. In fact, it wasn’t really her cup of tea.

Honestly, she had expected everything to fall into place after making her bold decision to study abroad, but the process was taking longer than she’d imagined.

Waiting for the university acceptance, waiting for financial aid, and waiting for clarity on what her next steps should be it all began to weigh heavily on her.

She would often find herself thinking,

I’ve taken the leap of faith, so why hasn’t everything come together yet?

The Challenge of Patience

In our fast-paced world, patience can feel like a weakness. We’re taught to go after what we want, make things happen, and push through obstacles. But Anna learned that sometimes, God calls us to wait, not because He’s forgotten us, but because He’s working things out in His own time.

Waiting doesn’t mean inactivity. It’s a time for growth, reflection, and preparation.

During this season, Anna began to see that there were things in her heart that God was working on. He was teaching her to trust Him more, to lean on His promises, and to find strength in His timing rather than her own. It wasn’t easy, but she slowly started to shift her perspective.

Finding Purpose in the Delay

During the waiting period, Anna discovered that this season wasn’t wasted time. She used it to develop skills, deepen her faith, and strengthen her relationships. The more she embraced the wait, the more she realized that God was preparing her for what was to come.

This became a time of introspection, where Anna spent hours in prayer, reading scripture, and journaling her thoughts. She wasn’t where she wanted to be yet, but she knew that this pause had a purpose.

God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our own. The waiting period is often where we grow the most, learning to trust in ways we never had to before. Anna’s story is a reminder that strength is found not in rushing ahead, but in resting in the assurance that God is in control.

Embracing God’s Timing

When Anna finally received her acceptance letter and the financial aid she’d been praying for, it felt like the culmination of months of faith and perseverance.

It wasn’t just about achieving her goal; it was about everything she had learned along the way.

She was no longer anxious about the future or questioning why things hadn’t happened sooner. She knew that God’s timing, though different from hers, was perfect.

The waiting season had shaped her into someone more grounded in her faith, more prepared for the challenges ahead, and more grateful for the blessings that came in God’s time.

Conclusion

Strength in the Waiting

Waiting is never easy, but it’s often where God does His best work in us.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

-Isaiah 40:31

For Anna, the waiting season wasn’t just a delay in her plans it was a time of growth, preparation, and deepening her relationship with God.

When we wait on God, we learn to trust His timing, lean on His promises, and develop the strength we need for the next season of life.

So I urge you by the scriptures to:

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.”
~Psalm 27:14

In moments of uncertainty, Anna found courage in knowing that waiting on God was not wasted time, but part of His perfect plan.

To sum it all up, allow me to remind you again that:

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” ~Habakkuk 2:3

So though God’s promises may take time to unfold, but they will always come to pass in His timing.
