Welcome again to the Dairy of an International Student
As an International Student, moving into the student accommodation in the heart of Wolverhampton was an experience I won’t soon forget.
My coach from London at the time, got to Wolverhampton pretty late, 1:30am, dropped off at the bus station roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the accommodation.
I already made my reservations from my home country before getting on the plane, since I didn’t really have family here at the time. (It’s very important, especially if you are new in the area).
I checked in around 2 AM on a crisp, cold night, with barely any feeling left in my feet from the chill.
The accommodation staff were there to help with my luggage, and I was immediately met by friendly security guards at who made the process feel safe and welcoming.
As exhausted as I was, I felt an unexpected sense of comfort as I made my way to my new room.
The next morning was a bit of a reality check. I finally met my flatmates in the common room area, which doubled as a kitchen and lounge.
Seeing everyone coming and going, laughing, and cooking together in this cozy space made it easier to adjust to this shared living experience.
I was thankful my room was en-suite; I couldn’t imagine sharing a toilet with strangers just yet (let’s just say I wasn’t ready to risk catching anything too soon!).
And as a “tiny” person, the room was the perfect size just right for settling in and making it my own.
One of the quirks of living here was the circuit laundromat system.

The accommodation uses an app for laundry, which meant I had to recharge the app before using any of the washing machines or dryers.
Let me quickly run you through on how it works…

It was a bit different from what I was used to, but like everything else, I learned to adapt.
Cleaners would pop by once a week to tidy up the common areas, which was a relief it kept the shared spaces fresh and gave us all a little break from cleaning.
Another plus was how close ASDA was, just a short walk from the accommodation. This was a lifesaver, especially when I needed groceries or essentials without trekking too far.
Living on a budget here wasn’t easy, but it taught me a lot about prioritizing, especially before I found a job. All in all, settling in was an adventure I’m glad I took on.
Was it worth it? I’ll let you be the judge.
And if you’re interested in hearing about how I managed on a tight budget as a newbie international student, stay tuned for my next post.
PS: When my program ended I moved out of the Student Accommodation and got a beautiful studio, now I’m living like a boss lady spinster 😂😂.

I enjoyed letting this off my chest…😅, hope you enjoyed it…Until next time… Cheers.
