Work Hard…Play Harder🎯🎮😮‍💨

Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

I know I am a workaholic 99% of the time, but when it comes to playtime…I go all out… I mean…

What’s that saying again? Oh yeah…“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

I guess they were onto something because even I, with my tendency to overthink and plan everything, know you can’t be serious all the time.

Every now and then, you’ve got to loosen up, unwind, and play a little.

So playtime for me comes in all forms, depending on my mood.

On chill days, it’s sitting with a good old game of Monopoly, either on a board, my iPad, or my phone. Scrabble? Oh, don’t get me started.

There’s something about online Scrabble with a group of five people, it’s competitive, strategic, and just plain fun.

I get into full-on “brainiac” mode, analyzing every word, making the best moves, and laughing at my competitors’ attempts to outsmart me.

It’s the kind of play that keeps my brain sharp but still feels like a guilty pleasure. (Iykyk…😅)

But then, there’s the wilder side of my playtime.

Take, for example, my new love affair with PS4 games.

I stumbled upon this action-adventure game at a friend’s house, and let me tell you it was love at first joystick.😂 …oouufff😮‍💨

The game had me rescuing innocent civilians from bad guys, shooting left, right, and center, and just leveling up like a pro.

You should’ve seen me with that controller focused, determined, and, okay, maybe a little too invested.

It’s like I transformed into a wild gamer, completely lost in the mission.

And let’s be real, give me action-adventure PS4 game over football any day.

I’ve tried playing football, but no give me a console and an adventure game, and I’m unstoppable.

Then there was this one time, recently I decided to relive my childhood. On December 31st last year, I went to Winter Wonderland in Stoke-on-Trent.

There’s me on rides, screaming my lungs out, and playing kids’ games like a carefree child…

PS: it’s a side of me, people rarely ever witness.

I laughed until my sides hurt and screamed until my voice cracked. It was pure, unfiltered joy.

Sometimes, you need days like that to forget everything else and just let your inner child run wild.

But here’s the thing about playtime:

it’s not just about having fun. It’s about relaxing your mind, releasing stress, and reconnecting with the things that bring you joy.

Whether it’s a brainy game of Scrabble, an intense PS4 session, or spinning on a carnival ride, these moments remind me that life isn’t just about responsibilities.

What about you? What does playtime look like in your life, and how often do you let yourself just play?

Listen, I know for a fact that life can be pretty overwhelming, but don’t forget to make time for joy. Playing isn’t just for kids it’s for anyone who needs to breathe, laugh, and recharge. Find your version of play, and let it remind you why life is worth living.
