Solo Trip- šŸ“Bath: Full Itinerary…

Would I go on a solo trip to Bath again? Absolutely. Would I survive the sarcasm my brain throws at me throughout the journey? Debatable. But let me walk you through this, because why not share my ā€œmain character momentā€ with you…

Dearest Gentle Readers,

Bath Spa City is a charming mix of old-world history and modern quirks. It’s a place you’ve probably seen in Bridgerton, the show that made corsets and longing stares trendy again.

I’m not much of a tourist (read: I prefer cozy corners to crowds), but I couldn’t resist the pull of Bath’s famous Roman Baths and Abbey Green Square.

The Journey Begins

The trip kicked off from Stoke-on-Trent train station on the 13th of January. I booked my train tickets using TrainPal budget-friendly, thank you very much. The outbound and return tickets cost me less than £60, and I spent a good 2 hours and 30 minutes on the train.

Let me just say this, train Wi-Fi is about as reliable as a British summer. So, I alternated between staring out the window at endless fields and was seriously tempted to nibble on the homemade fried chicken thighs I had packed in my bag like a pro.

What About Accommodation…?

My pre-booked Airbnb, located near the Roman Baths, was a steal at £150 for two nights.

It had everything I needed accessible transport routes, a cozy aesthetic vibe, and, most importantly, a view that screamed staycation perfection.

Could I have done this trip in one day? Probably. Did I want to? Absolutely not. Sometimes, you just need to stretch out the good vibes.

My Itinerary:

What to Do…Introvert Style…

1. Tourific Audio Tour

I booked this for Ā£6.50, and let me tell you, it’s a lifesaver for introverts who hate asking strangers for directions. It guided me through Abbey Green Square (yes, the one with Bridgerton vibes), Bath Street, and even pointed out the Modiste shop from the series (if you know, you know). As I walked, the narrator’s soothing voice made me feel like I was in my own Netflix drama.

Feel free to check it out HERE

2. Dinner at Portofino Oyster Bar & Mediterranean Restaurant

Italian food lovers, this one’s for you. I indulged in their Sea Bass with grilled potatoes wedges and the King Prawn Special—10/10 would recommend.

The cozy environment and friendly staff made it all the more enjoyable. And let’s not forget the Pornstar Martini, which, despite its weird name, to me was a pretty delightful cocktail drink accompanied by a mild shot.

3. Nature Breaks

I strolled through a beautiful park near Grande Central, where I found a quiet stream of water. Sitting there, surrounded by nature, felt like pressing pause on life’s chaos.

It was a moment of pure gratitude.

4. Historical Exploration

Of course, I visited the Roman Baths, because how could I not? The ancient vibe was fascinating. Walking along the cobblestones, I couldn’t help but wonder how people back in the day managed without Google Maps.

A Birthday to Remember

Ah, the 14th of January, my birthday. I spent the day exploring the city, taking pictures, and soaking in the vibes and the beauty of nature and God’s creation.

The day ended with a quiet celebration at my Airbnb, where I reflected on how far I’ve come and how much more there is to see.

Budget Breakdown

• Train Fare (Round Trip): Ā£50

• Airbnb (2 Nights): Ā£150 (optional unless you want to go for a hotel option then you can use Booking.com

• Self-Tour Audio Guide: Ā£6.50

• Dinner at Portofino Oyster Bar & Mediterranean Restaurant: Ā£30 (was worth it)

• Miscellaneous Snacks and Drinks: Ā£20 (Enjoy spicy street food with Lj Hugs

I’ll recommend a meal deal with chicken, minced beef, with chips or steamed white rice accompanied with a drink. It’s a filling treat…

Could I have done this trip for less? Sure. Would it have been this enjoyable? Probably not. There’s something magical about taking your time to explore, eat good food, and simply exist in a beautiful city.

Final Thoughts

Would I recommend a solo trip to Bath? Absolutely. It’s the perfect blend of history, nature, and modern charm. Plus, there’s something empowering about travelling alone you get to set the pace, make your own decisions, let’s be honest.

Now, could you do this trip in one day? Probably. But who can blame me for stretching it out and soaking up the peace? Oh, and like I mentioned this trip was my birthday treat to myself. Yes, I turned a year older on the 14th while on this solo trip as a retreat and speaking into my year, sauntering through history and indulging in good food.

By the time I returned to Stoke-on-Trent on the 15th, I was exhausted but happy. There’s something about solo trips that makes you feel so independent, even when you’re secretly wishing someone was there to take your pictures, but I went with my tripod selfie stick and Bluetooth remote to do the job…

So, would you go on a solo trip to Bath? What would you do differently? Maybe your trip would include more group selfies, but trust me, there’s a certain magic in going solo. It’s just you, your thoughts, and a beautiful city waiting to be explored.

Here’s my little advice: take that trip, it’s now long overdue. Even if it’s just for a day. Even if you’re scared. Life’s too short to stay in one place. Let yourself saunter you never know what amazing memories you might make.

That said, I hope enjoyed this piece… if you feel like replicating this trip you’re welcome to use my itinerary and next month I planned to move to the next city…God willing, if you want to find out more check out my spontaneous travel bucket list for the year.
