What makes a good leader?
Leadership. Ah, the one word that somehow keeps finding me in every phase of my life. It’s almost like leadership positions have a GPS tracker on me, and I can’t seem to escape. From being a group leader in secondary school (basically making sure no one messed up our group project) to becoming a class representative, then a department president, a head residence advisor, and now an international student ambassador. Whew! I mean, I never really signed up for all this responsibility, but hey, here we are.

Over the years, I’ve realized leadership is more than just wearing a fancy title or getting to boss people around (sadly) in fact it’s far from that. It’s about embracing responsibility, patience, and most importantly, listening yes, actually listening, not just nodding and zoning out halfway through. And trust me, I’ve learned that the hard way.
One thing that has saved me (and my sanity) throughout this leadership journey? Books. Lots and lots of books. I’ve devoured leadership books like snacks, and I’m not even ashamed. John C. Maxwell? One can say he’s practically been my mentor at this point. If you haven’t read any of his books, honestly, what are you doing with your life? I’ll list the ones I’ve read and recommend for you below.
However, I can tell you one thing, that your every day life revolves around leadership whether you like it or not and you’ll need it to be the best version of yourself. So FIND OUT MORE
And recently, I discovered Edward LeMarc’s book, and let me just say, it’s a game-changer. In my next blog post, I’m going to give you a little review of his book, and if you’re into such books, I am sure you’ll definitely enjoy reading it.
Leadership is all about growth, and if you’re not learning, you’re probably just carelessly winging it (and we all know how that ends).
But here’s the thing whether you’re leading a team at work, managing your household, or just trying to keep yourself in check (because, let’s be real, that’s a job in itself), leadership is everywhere. It’s not about having all the answers; it’s about learning, evolving, and making the tough calls when no one else wants to.
So, what makes a good leader? I’d say it’s a blend of resilience, humility, and the ability to not lose your mind when everything seems to be falling apart. It’s about balancing confidence with compassion and learning when to step back and let others shine.
PS; Jesus’ life on earth with his disciples is a perfect example of a Good Leader…
Now, let me ask you what’s the biggest lesson leadership has taught you so far? Are you ready to step up and embrace your inner leader? Because trust me, whether you realize it or not, someone’s looking up to you.
Until next time, keep leading with purpose, and remember leadership is not a title, it’s an action. Stay inspired. Cheers.
