So, here’s the thing today’s lesson from Maxwell Daily 365 really got me thinking (and maybe eye-rolling a little).
“When a leader can’t or won’t empower others, he creates barriers within the organization that followers cannot overcome.”
Well, isn’t that the truth? I mean, how many times have we seen leaders who act like they’re the only ones who know anything?
The ones who hold onto power like it’s some ancient artifact only they can protect.
Newsflash: leadership isn’t about hoarding power; it’s about sharing it.
But hey, I get it trusting others with responsibilities can be hard. What if they mess up? What if they don’t do things exactly the way I would?
(Spoiler: They won’t, and that’s okay.)
I’ve had my fair share of experiences where I thought I could handle everything myself. You know, that “I’ll just do it, it’s faster that way” mentality?
Yeah, it doesn’t work in the long run.
I learned that the hard way, burnout, frustration, and the realization that no one’s an island. Not even me.
Looking back, I realise the best leaders I’ve encountered are the ones who didn’t just lead they empowered. They believed in people, gave them opportunities, and yes, let them fail and learn.
And that’s what I want to embody too. It’s not about losing control; it’s about gaining a team that actually thrives without micromanagement breathing down their necks.
So, here’s the takeaway for both you and me let go a little, trust a little more, and give others the space to shine. You never know; they might just surprise you (in a good way).
Now, let me ask you this have you ever been in a situation where someone trusted you enough to empower you? How did that feel? Or better yet, are you the kind of leader who lifts others up or holds them back?
In summary, I believe true leadership is about building others up, not building walls around yourself.
