I once had a boss who knew everything about my job but nothing about me.
No small talk, no “How’s your day?”, no real connection. And honestly?
It made me feel like just another name on a list.
Then I worked with a leader who was different. She asked about my family.
Remembered a few things that concerned me with the job. Checked in when I was struggling. It wasn’t forced it was genuine. And guess what? I worked harder for her than for anyone else. Why? Because she cared.
John Maxwell says, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” That’s the truth.
When we take a real interest in others whether in leadership, business, or life it changes everything.
So here’s my challenge for you: Today, take a moment to really notice someone.
Ask a question. Listen. Show at least that actually you care.
It might be one of the most valuable things you do all day.
