I know, this seems like a weird topic, but I think it’s important. I’ve had my own fair share and have tasted it. I still remember the moment I failed big time one of my core module required for my Masters degree certificate after having aced all the others.
For a split second, to think something I had poured my heart into didn’t just stumble it crushed me. I felt like I’d lost more than just progress I’d lost my confidence.
And resolved to questioning everything.
Does this sound familiar to you?
Recently, I read these words from John Maxwell:
“The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure.”
If you’ve been following my posts lately, you’ll notice I enjoy referencing John Maxwell, reading his books has really made such a huge difference in my life.
Failure isn’t the enemy. It’s the teacher. But here’s the thing, some people fail backward they retreat, give up, and shut down, this something I was seriously gearing towards at the peak of that unfortunate time of my life. Others fail forward they pause, reflect, reset, and rise even stronger.
At that moment, I chose to fail forward. Here’s what it looked like:
1. I owned the failure. No blaming, no hiding. Just truth. I accepted that present temporary condition.
2. I found a pivotal lesson from it. I believe every failure carries a seed of wisdom if we’re willing to look.
3. I kept going. Slowly, quietly, but forward.
Failing forward isn’t about pretending the pain didn’t happen it’s about using it as fuel. Looking back, here’s an update, that “failure” shaped me more than any win ever could, and I’m grateful for it now even more.
So if you’re currently in the middle of a setback, please remember that the fall doesn’t define you the direction you choose after it does. So choose well, I’m sure you’ll do just fine.
But before I go, I thought this video below I shared here resonates really well with what I shared.
If you’ve never tasted failure, you will not appreciate the splendor of success as much as you need to.
I hope you have an amazing weekend. Cheers.
