I’ll never forget one particular Monday morning. Everything that could go wrong… did. A client backed out, my team was confused, and I sat there staring at my to-do list, wondering where to even begin.
I felt unease and wanted to panic but instead, I paused. I’m saying this in light of a significant lesson, I learned from John Maxwell teaching, he expressed that…
“You can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.”
So, I took a deep breath, stepped back, and asked myself a better question not “Why is this happening?” but “How can I lead through this present situation?”
Here’s what I’ve learned so far about real problem-solving:
1. Slow down before you speed up. The first reaction isn’t always the best one.
2. Ask the right questions. Often times, the problem isn’t what you think, it’s hidden under the surface.
3. Don’t isolate yourself, try to collaborate. Two heads (or more) they say really are better than one.
Problems don’t disappear with worry they respond to wisdom. And the best leaders aren’t the ones who avoid problems they’re the ones who face them heads on with an open mind, courage, clarity, and creativity.
So the next time chaos hits, dare to remind yourself that the problem isn’t the end but the beginning of an inevitable breakthrough.
