There’s a saying which says, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.” But I believe it’s also true in leadership…“Show me the people closest to a leader, and I’ll show you how far that leader will go.”
In today’s chapter, once again John Maxwell teaches,
“Those closest to the leader determine the success of the leader.”
When I first stepped into leadership, I thought it was all about my abilities.
But over time, I realized that no matter how strong I was individually, I was only as strong as the team I chose to build around me.
Here’s what I learned:
Surround yourself with people who challenge and sharpen you.
Character matters more than talent.
Trust and loyalty are leadership superpowers.
The people closest to you will either lift you higher or quietly pull you down.
Choose wisely.
Because leadership isn’t just about where you’re going it’s about who’s going with you.
