I mean, comfort is cute… until it starts choking you slowly and calling it “routine.”
I once sat in the middle of what looked like peace from the outside,
A stable space, calm conversations, morning check-ins, decent pay (or at least, it paid the bills),
Even prayers at night with a “we got this” smile…
But deep down?
I was shrinking.
Quietly, softly, and consistently.
You know how you stay in a room too long and forget what fresh air feels like?
That was me.
In a “relationship” that ticked boxes but checked none of my soul.
It was lukewarm,
Not hot enough to heal, not cold enough to leave without guilt.
Just… there.
Existing.
Like dry rice with no stew.
(Yup, I said it.)
I stayed silent when I should have screamed,
Nodded when I should have walked.
I feared rocking the boat until I realized I was the only one sinking.
And then one day, I woke up.
Well… maybe more like “woke up crying at 3AM and whispering to God, ‘Is this really it?’”
And I heard nothing.
But peace doesn’t always speak it settles.
So, I left.
I walked away from “almost,” from “comfortable chaos,” from fake peace.
And trust me, it wasn’t easy letting go of what you know,
To make space for what you deserve.
But oh, what I found!
Clarity.
Wholeness.
Purpose.
And surprisingly?
Joy. The kind that giggles with me when I wake up alone but free.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely.
Because walking away didn’t make me empty…
It made me available
To purpose, to healing, to love that feels like rest,
And laughter that doesn’t require permission.
