Let Me Tell You Why I Can’t Text Without a Face…
There was a time
a dark, prehistoric era
when texting was just… words.
Flat. Dry. Cold.
Like burnt toast with no butter.
I’d send a “thanks”
and people thought I was mad.
I’d type “ok”
and suddenly I was the villain in somebody’s original story.
All because… no facial expressions,
no tone,
no me.
Then…Emojis 😮💨😂🙌🥳😘
Tiny lifesavers in yellow and brown faces.😲
Digital hugs 🫂 when words feel awkward.😬
That one smiling face? 😊
Saved me from being ghosted at least four times. (Not kidding)
Because sometimes,
“I’m fine” needs a crying-laughing face to say,
“I’m surviving but life’s beating me like puff-puff batter right now.”😂
And oh—
let’s not even get into WhatsApp stickers.
Those are Chef’s kiss…😙🤌
When emojis can’t carry the drama I’m feeling,
I pull out a sticker…
A whole sticker pack dedicated to my moods:
Sassy? Sticker.
Tired? Sticker.
Spiritually battling life’s nonsense? Oh, there’s a sticker for that too.
See, texting without emojis is like soup without seasoning
technically it’s food,
but spiritually… it’s not fulfilling.
I learned the hard way.
There were moments,
real moments
where I stayed silent in conflict,
because “talking it out” in flat texts scared me more than actual confrontation.
If only I had sent that one facepalm emoji,
or that eye-roll sticker,
maybe they would’ve gotten it without a whole essay.
Now?
If it’s not dripping with emojis,
did I even send it?
Emojis are my tone.
My facial expressions…😊😲😮💨😌😒😂
My soul in 3 megabytes.
They turn awkward silence into an inside joke,
anger into pure sarcasm,
and “you good?” into “you GOOD good?”
So if you ever text me and I don’t send a laughing face,
Please, check on me.
Something is probably wrong.
