Poetry for the Lonely…
There’s a silence in my voice.
A stillness
that no one seems to notice—
or maybe they just don’t ask.
I speak in half-smiles
and “I’m fine” phrases,
but underneath,
my soul is whispering:
“Do you see me? Do you hear me?”
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.”— Psalm 25:16
Loneliness isn’t always empty rooms.
Sometimes it’s crowded ones
where no one really knows your heart.
Sometimes it’s laughter that feels far away.
Sometimes it’s sitting at the table—
but still feeling unseen.
And so,
I write instead of speak.
I bleed onto pages
what I can’t say out loud.
I tell the paper my fears
because paper won’t interrupt,
won’t dismiss,
won’t turn my ache into gossip.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”— Psalm 34:18
I wonder if Jesus felt this too—
the weight of being surrounded,
yet still alone.
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”— Luke 5:16
If even He sought solitude,
maybe loneliness
isn’t just emptiness.
Maybe it’s an invitation—
to sit with Him.
So here I am, Lord,
with the silence in my voice,
hoping You hear
what I don’t know how to say.
Because even in my loneliness,
I am not alone.
And neither are you.
