🥢I Spent £40 on Thai Food…

What’s the most money you’ve ever spent on a meal? Was it worth it?

Listen, I don’t usually drop £40 on a single meal unless we’re talking a three-course Thai cuisine situation that could make me consider relocating to Bangkok.

It was during my solo trip to Buxton, and I decided to treat myself. Appetizer? Spring rolls (or whatever fancy name they gave them on the menu) with sweet chili dipping sauce that could probably fix a bad day. They threw in cute little carrot flowers and purple cabbage for presentation. Did I eat the garnish? No. I’m African—if it’s cold and raw, I’m suspicious.

Main course? A glorious pork stir fry with green beans, bell peppers, onions, and a coconut-flavored sauce that was so rich I started questioning my life choices… like, why haven’t I been eating this my whole life? Served with coconut rice — not the African kind, oh no — this was basmati cooked in coconut milk until it whispered, “ouuu…I’m premium.”

Then came dessert… and my soul ascended. Something tart-like with apple, Swiss ice cream, blueberries, chocolate, whipped cream, and a drizzle of syrup that belonged in a Michelin-star restaurant. Honestly, I was half expecting angels to sing.

Would I go back? Maybe not — I like to tick places off my bucket list and move on, but I will be linking their website because this meal deserves a standing ovation.

And yes, as for my own food business, my seafood okra soup still holds the crown as the most expensive item on the menu (crabs, calamari, jumbo shrimp, catfish — it’s all luxury in a bowl).
