The One Who Let Go

Naomi thought she had found the one. Elijah ticked every box. He was God-fearing, kind, even able to finish her sentences. They had prayed together, fasted together, and dreamed about a shared future along with all the good stuff.

But one quiet evening, as they sat under the dim glow of the café lights, Elijah said the words that shattered her heart:

God is leading me in a different direction.”

Naomi’s mind screamed “But you’re my answered prayer!” Yet deep down, she knew that sometimes God removes what you think you can’t live without to give you what you truly need.

So Naomi had no choice but to say…

The nights that followed were exhaustingly long.

Tears soaked her pillow, and questions haunted her:

Why would God let this happen? But slowly, through Scripture and whispered prayers, peace returned.

She clung to Isaiah 55:8-9:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways… As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.”

Months later, she realised that letting go wasn’t losing, instead it was making room for God’s very best for her. Elijah was part of her journey, but not her destination.

The lesson I want you to take from this story is that;

Sometimes love means releasing what you want so God can place what you need at the right time. Trusting Him with your heart is never wasted.

This is another part of my short love story series with life lessons and biblical truths. If you’re loving these, come back tomorrow for “The One God Restored” a short but similar story of forgiveness, grace, and second chances.
