If Your Friends Aren’t Friends, Make New Friends

It’s the first day of the month, and as I reflected on today’s reading, one line stood out to me:

“If the people close to you aren’t adding value to your life, consider making some new friends.”

I remembered a season in my life when the people around me didn’t believe in my dreams. Their words, though subtle, chipped away at my confidence. I often wondered if I was reaching too high, aiming too far, or simply out of touch with reality. For a while, I shrank myself to fit their expectations.

But like Joe Larson said, “My friends didn’t believe that I could become a successful speaker. So I did something about it. I went out and found me some new friends.”

Then it hit me. Sometimes, the greatest shift in one’s life begins not with what we build, earn, or achieve but with the people we choose to walk with.

Houses crumble, careers end, money fades, and health declines, but friendships shape us in ways that linger far longer.

I realized that the relationships I kept were either watering my growth or draining my strength.

Choosing wisely wasn’t just an option, it was survival.

Lessons for Today

Your circle matters. Friends influence your dreams, your courage, and even your direction in life. Not all friends are true friends. Some people may love you but still hold you back. Life is too short to waste on wrong company. Choose people who encourage, uplift, and sharpen you to be the best version of yourself.

  1. I’ve got hundreds and thousands of people trying to get money out of me online, I’m happier with my small circle of friends and even my family who simply appreciate my company. I consider Love to be more valuable than money, so to me, those are the ones I get most value out of. Peace.
