Let’s be real right, too many of us spend half our lives trying to convince people we’re “enough.” Enough to love. Enough to keep. Enough to respect. And if someone doesn’t see it, we start doubting ourselves like our value suddenly dropped to 80% off clearance-sale prices.
But here’s the truth love, your worth isn’t something that needs defending or negotiating. It’s not a price tag that changes depending on who’s looking.
Think about it. A diamond doesn’t lose its value just because someone doesn’t know how to recognize it. If a person looks at you and doesn’t see your shine, that’s their problem, not yours.
I remember a friend who kept chasing validation from her workplace. No matter how many hours she put in, no matter how much extra she gave, her boss never saw her as more than “average.” She broke her back proving herself late nights, early mornings, skipped weekends until she realized something, their opinion didn’t change her skill, her effort, or her talent.
The moment she stopped begging for recognition and started walking like she was already valuable, things shifted. She didn’t get louder; she just got clearer about her own worth. She eventually landed a new job where she was not only seen but celebrated and started a business of her own.
Lessons We Can All Learn
Your value is intrinsic. It’s built-in, not handed out by people. Rejection isn’t always about you. Sometimes it just reflects their blind spots. Stop auditioning for roles you already deserve. Walk like you belong, because you do. Know when to leave the table. If they don’t see your worth, it’s not your job to shrink until they do.
You are already enough. Full stop. You don’t need to argue about it, prove it endlessly, or shrink yourself to fit someone’s limited vision of you. The only debate you should ever entertain is how best to show up for the life you deserve.
