Prompts, Storytelling

Early Morning Fire Incident🧯🔥

This morning was anything but ordinary. I woke up at 4 a.m. because, well, nature called. I thought I’d ease myself and crawl back into bed like any sane person would. But nope, sleep decided it wasn’t going to work with me today.

So, there I was, wide awake, at the crack of dawn, thinking, “Fine, let me be productive.” I grabbed my Bible, said my morning prayers, and started meditating on some scriptures. Everything seemed calm, peaceful even. That was until around 4:30 when chaos decided to strike.

Suddenly, an alarm went on. At first, I thought, “Maybe it’s just another drill. No need to panic.” But it just kept blaring, louder and louder. I opened my door, and the smell of smoke hit me like a ton of bricks. Still, I was trying to rationalize it “Maybe the neighbors are cooking something?” (Yes, at 4:30 a.m., because that’s logical, right?). Then, I looked outside, and people were yelling, “FIRE! Evacuate the building!”

Now, picture this: It’s winter. Snow everywhere. The temperature? A lovely -3 degrees. And here I was, rushing out of the building in whatever I could grab.

Apparently, the fire was started by someone who thought it was a good idea to cook while drunk and wasted. I mean, who does that? You’re drunk, wasted, and your first thought is, “Let me start a fire and then go back to sleep.” Absolutely brilliant.

So, there we were, shivering outside in the freezing cold. The fire brigade showed up, assessed the situation, put out the fire, and thankfully, no one was hurt. But standing outside for hours until 7 a.m. in that weather? Not exactly my idea of how I pictured my start of a Sunday morning.

Here’s the kicker: This is all happening just two days before my birthday. Talk about drama. But you know what? Even in the chaos, God is faithful. The scripture I read this morning kept echoing in my mind: “Do not fear.” And truly, He was with me through it all.

It’s funny how life throws unexpected moments our way, isn’t it? One minute you’re meditating on God’s word, the next you’re fleeing a fire in the middle of the night. But in the end, I’m just grateful to be alive, safe, and able to share this with you.

So, here’s my question: How do you handle the unexpected moments in life? Do they shake you, or do you stand firm in faith? Let this be a reminder that even in chaos, God’s got you. Stay strong and keep trusting Him. Have a blessed day!
