From Horses to Donkeys…Life Lessons I Didn’t See Coming…

What is your favorite animal?

So, here we go again “What’s your favorite animal?” A simple question, right? Wrong.

I mean, are we talking about the animal I admire or… the one I enjoy on my plate? Just kidding. Maybe.

Well, my favorite animal is a horse. Yep, you read that right, a majestic, elegant horse. And no, it’s not because I’ve galloped across fields on one. I think it’s their strength and grace that I admire, though I wouldn’t mind a dreamy horseback ride someday.

Would you look at that…🥹😮‍💨

😮‍💨I know my sweet dog 🐶 feels betrayed right now 😂, and is naturally supposed to be man’s best friend right…I still love her… But let’s be honest, I didn’t come to this realization out of the blue.

Horses remind me of something powerful, Jesus and His choice to ride into Jerusalem on a humble donkey. (I know, not a horse, but stay with me here.)

The donkey, often overlooked and unimportant, carried the King of Kings while people laid their clothes and palm fronds down in reverence.

Now some of us now call this day, Palm Sunday…😂🫠

That moment transformed the “insignificant” donkey into a vessel of great honor. It’s funny, isn’t it?

God always uses the seemingly unimportant things to do something extraordinary.

This has me thinking, how often do we overlook the “small” things in life? The blessings we take for granted? Horses and donkeys, big or small, teach us about resilience, strength, and humility.

Speaking of which, my birthday yesterday reminded me to be grateful for the “small” things.

On my solo trip to Bath, I explored stunning historical sites, dolled up in my favorite dress, and indulged in an Italian feast.

The city was mesmerizing, and I took tons of pictures. And yes, I’ll be sharing all the details of my solo travel itinerary in my next post because what’s an adventure if it can’t inspire someone else to dream?

Through it all, I kept reflecting on the beauty of simple joys, whether it’s celebrating another year of life or acknowledging the strength in things (and people) we often overlook just like that donkey in scripture.

So, tell me what’s your “small” thing that brings you joy? Don’t overlook it. Life’s best moments often come from the unexpected. Cheers to finding joy and strength in the little things.
