Remember Their Good Days, Not the Bad Ones…

A while ago, I ran into an old colleague I hadn’t seen in years. The first thing that popped into my mind? A huge mistake they made on a project we worked on together. It wasn’t career-ending, but it was frustrating at the time.

Then, as we talked, they reminded me of all the good things we had accomplished how we landed a big favors, how we stayed late celebrating a win, how we had each other’s backs when things got tough.

I felt embarrassed.

Why had my mind gone straight to their worst moment instead of their best?

The lesson I took with me from John Maxwell’s book hit me:

People will fail. But if we only define them by their failures, we forget their worth.

Since then, I’ve made a habit of focusing on people’s best moments.

That difficult team member? I remember the time they stepped up when no one else would.

That friend who let me down once? I remind myself of all the times they showed up for me.

So my friend, here’s the truth of the matter…

If you look for the worst in people, you’ll find it. But if you look for their best, you’ll find that too and it’ll change how you see them.

So tell me, who in your life needs to be remembered for their good days instead of their bad ones?

I know for a fact you do want to be remembered for the good days not the bad don’t you? 😅 so keep that same energy with others in your life as well.

Happy New Month Friend, Cheers amazing opportunities and blessings coming your way💪

  1. It’s funny how the brain works—someone messes up once, and we store it in a VIP section of our memory. But their good deeds? Those get tossed in the ‘Lost & Found’ like a forgotten umbrella. Maybe it’s time to fire that part of our brain and hire one that remembers people for their best moments instead. After all, none of us want to be remembered for that one time we tripped on the sidewalk and played it off like we were checking our shoelaces.
