I could easily say I’ve been able to cultivate this loyalty list I mentioned below as friend, I’ve risked my life for people and didn’t even think twice about it, just because of sheer concern.
Unfortunately, I didn’t exactly get the same response from those people at the time in my life when I needed them most, but God in his mercies gave me a shoulder to lean on when I needed it.
Loyalty isn’t loud. It doesn’t always look flashy. It’s not about saying the right things it’s about showing up, over and over, even when no one’s watching.
From this, all I can think about is a very good friend of mine, who stood by me during one of the toughest seasons of my life.
Sure they didn’t have all the answers. But they were there. Not just once, not just when it was easy but consistently. And that’s when I realized…
Loyalty is one of the most powerful currencies in life.
In today’s reading, John Maxwell says,
“Loyalty means giving me your honest opinion, whether you think I’ll like it or not.”
It’s honesty. It’s support. It’s choosing to stay when it would be easier to simply walk away.
How do we cultivate loyalty?
1. Be loyal first. Give what you hope to receive.
2. Communicate through the hard stuff. Loyalty is tested when things get uncomfortable.
3. Be consistent not perfect. People trust what’s steady, not what’s shiny.
In summary, in a world that often feels transactional, loyalty stands out. And the truth is that it’s rare. But when you give it when received, to me it’s pure gold.
Anyway, that said I’m sure by now, if you’ve been following my updates, you’ll know that I’ve been thinking of starting a podcast🤔 to share my experiences of being an international student in the UK and some helpful tips and motivation.
I’ll also love to know how best I can make my podcast more engaging and interesting with your suggestions.
