The Art of Letting Go With Peace
I used to think letting go
had to be loud.
Sharp words.
Tears on the floor.
A dramatic goodbye.
But now I’m learning…
peace can be quiet.
Sometimes you just walk away—
no fireworks,
no closure,
no final “why.”
Just the decision
to stop reopening a door
God already closed.
“There is a time for everything…
a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to be silent and a time to speak.”— Ecclesiastes 3:1,6-7
I didn’t want to slam it.
But they pushed me to the edge.
Not with rage—
but with repeated disregard,
with apathy dressed as friendship,
with silence where there should’ve been care.
So I left.
But not with bitterness.
Not with drama.
Just a quiet final step
and a hand on the doorknob.
Click.
And that was it.
I still love them—
but I love myself enough now
to stop fighting to stay
where I was no longer seen.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,l ive at peace with everyone.”— Romans 12:18
This is what peace looked like for me:
Unfollowing in love.
Not replying in anger.
Praying for them,
while no longer allowing them
to drain me.
I slammed the door…
gently.
And behind it, I left
resentment,
confusion,
and all the versions of me
that begged to be chosen.
See, even scriptures says—
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”— Isaiah 43:18–19
So this post is for you
if you’re standing at that door.
Hand shaking.
Heart heavy.
Still hoping they’ll turn around.
Sometimes they won’t.
Sometimes God calls you forward
without closure.
But there is holy strength
in quiet exits.
There is divine healing
in walking away in love.
Letting go isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.
It’s part worship.
It’s trust that what’s ahead
is way better than what tried to break you.
So go ahead.
Close that door.
And walk away in peace.

Well said. Letting go is so important. Holding on to the past or what is not meant for us stops us from properly appreciating our present and future.
