Things I Wish I Said

There are words sitting heavy

in the drafts of my heart.

Things I typed but never sent,

whispers I swallowed instead of speaking.

Not because I didn’t feel them

but because I wasn’t sure

they would be heard

the way I meant them to be.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…a time to be silent and a time to speak.”— Ecclesiastes 3:1,7

I wish I had said,

That hurt me.”

Instead, I smiled and stayed quiet.

I wish I had said,

“I needed you.”

Instead, I pretended I didn’t.

I wish I had said,

“I forgive you.”

Instead, I held onto the ache

just a little too long.

There’s a bittersweetness

to these unsent messages—

not regrets,

but reminders.

Reminders of the love I carried,

the boundaries I found,

the silence I chose

when my soul needed protecting.

“Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”— Psalm 141:3

Some words were better left unsaid.

Others?

They still ache to be spoken.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

God sees the words

I couldn’t send.

He heard the cries

I couldn’t voice out.

“Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.”— Psalm 139:4

And in that, I find peace.

Because closure isn’t always a conversation.

Sometimes it’s a prayer.

Sometimes it’s writing the message,

then handing it to heaven instead of “send.”

So this is for every unsent message,

every text deleted,

every letter burned,

every phone call never made.

God heard it.

God holds it.

And somehow,

He turns even unspoken words

into healing.

  1. Especially if you delete those old messages in forgiveness. Yes He’ll be there for you,
God doesn’t like bad vibes. He likes forgiveness. He likes starting over. Love Him and it all falls into place. God Bless you, thanks for your post.
